Chiropractic Flexion-Distraction for Sciatica and Low Back Pain

Are you struggling with sciatica or low back pain caused by conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease? A technique called chiropractic flexion-distraction may be able to help.

Flexion-distraction is a chiropractic technique that involves the use of a specialized table that flexes and distracts the spine while the chiropractor uses gentle manual pressure to manipulate the affected area. This technique can be particularly effective for treating conditions that cause sciatica and low back pain.

During a flexion-distraction treatment session, the patient lies face down on the table while the chiropractor uses a specialized hand grip to apply pressure to the affected area. The table then moves in a rhythmic motion that gently flexes and distracts the spine, creating a pumping action that promotes nutrient-rich fluids to flow in and out of the spinal discs. This technique can help to reduce pressure on the nerves, promote healing, and restore proper function to the affected area. It is a non-invasive, drug-free approach to pain relief that can be used alone or in conjunction with other chiropractic techniques to provide comprehensive care for patients with spinal conditions.

In addition to flexion-distraction, chiropractors may use other techniques such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy and lifestyle modification recommendations to help manage the symptoms of sciatica and low back pain. At Hammett Integrative Health we employ a wide variety of chiropractic techniques including flexion-distraction to help our patients get relief from sciatica and low back pain, increase their mobility and be able to return to and enjoy their daily activities.
